Category : Best Shop Fitting Project : Fastrack, Indiranagar MERIT : Disha Retail Fixtures

Fastrack’s flagship store in Indira Nagar, Bangalore , is spread across a 1000 sq. ft. area and unfolds a series of installations and events. A physical grid of white pipes forms the basis for a grid, from which various display systems are suspended. The meshwork of grids hides away services and lighting, and supports various display systems. The store does not rely on conventional materials and even though there is order in the apparent chaos, there is an underlying sense of exploring a bazaar.

The demand of the design was to create an unconventional showroom but with well engineered elements. Finishes ranged from PU finishes in different colours for the tables, trunks, carved wooden frames for the mirrors to Mesh type boxes and shield shaped fixtures with special provisions to hold specific merchandise like helmets and bags. All the above has been made compatible to be mounted on poles with pins to fasten. Poles were treated with special processes to increase the life of the finish. The design intent was to create a grid work on the top to support poles wherever fixtures had to be put up. Considering the span of the showroom and to maintain the modular concept of the fixtures, challenges were faced in the design of the grid work and installation of the same.

The challenge for the engineering team was to maintain the uniqueness of the design but operationally adhere to modular concept. All the elements in the store are interchangeable as standard distances have been maintained. The poles are also interchangeable and give the flexibility for change-over with minimum time and effort
