Store of the Year VM-RD Retail Design Awards 2014

Category : Western Fashion Apparel - Specialty Store Project : The Arvind Store GOLD : Fitch

Fusing fashion, fabric and the craft of tailoring in a contemporary environment, The Arvind Store brings bespoke fashion to the masses. According to the brand, the space aims to bring the look and feel of Indian internationalism into the sector with emphasis on a fashion point of view, advice and dialogue with the tailoring staff. Designed by Fitch, the challenge was to redefine what custom-made tailoring could be in the Indian market. Donning a clean and light space, the store has four main segments Bespoke Tailoring, Bespoke Denim, Pre-made Suits and Shirts and Guest Brands. The emphasis is on fashionable garments centred on the tailoring studio and the fashion adviser who can assist customers with the available choices. Customers also get to select fabric in a more personal way where dedicated alcoves have been created for each of the key categories. In-store graphic communication elaborates on the craftsmanship of tailoring, explains the intricacies of creating the product, amplifies some of the unique Arvind offers of innovative fabrics, exclusive washes and finishes and brings to fore the Arvind Denim Lab with its multiple customization options. The store design slows down the customer journey and redefines the customer experience. According to the brand, this has achieved two key objectives: the store now sells more fabric per customer and furthermore converts that into suits made by the in-house tailors. The Arvind Store has now doubled the revenues of the Arvind in-house tailors compared to the previous store average
