VM&RD - - VM-RD RETAIL DESIGN AWARDS 2014 -

With an aim to make a strong, bold and unique state­ment, the Tata Mo­tors Show­room for Con­corde Mo­tors took on a new de­sign strat­egy that im­ple­mented fu­tur­is­tic de­sign high­light­ing the prod­ucts with hi-ended fu­tur­is­tic ma­te­ri­als en­hanc­ing the con­cept. Ratnsorb - Ar­chi­tec­ture & De­sign cre­ated the en­tire de­sign on a matte grey can­vas which acts as the di­rect in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the road tar on which cars are al­ways viewed.

With a grand en­trance, the glass façade of more than 120’-0” in length has an over­pow­er­ing im­pact, which is en­hanced by cre­at­ing a sin­gle hor­i­zon­tal fas­cia with­out any ver­ti­cals in the same fas­cia ma­te­rial. The show­room has two very clear dis­tinct ar­eas for the dis­play of the sporty and chic sedans and hatch backs, to the more rus­tic and hardy sports util­ity ve­hi­cles which is seam­less and flows into one an­other with­out any vis­ual bar­rier.

The ceil­ing as a whole in con­cept has been de­signed as float­ing planes, kept away from rigid wall sur­faces. All the strate­gic ar­eas of the show­room like ‘The host­ess podium’ , ‘The cus­tomer lounge’ , ‘The prime ve­hi­cle dis­play area’, ‘De­liv­ery bay and en­trance’ , ‘VIP dis­cus­sion space ‘ , ‘The ac­ces­sory and mer­chan­dise area’ etc have been demarcated via the ceil­ing, ex­e­cuted in var­i­ous heights and forms en­hanced by var­ied and mood chang­ing light.

The el­e­ment of fu­tur­is­tic de­sign is added in the show­room in the form of blue back­lit LED pan­els in a hor­i­zon­tal bar­code pat­tern, where a graphic and a multi-screen video wall has been in­te­grated so as to make the en­tire vis­ual ex­pe­ri­ence very dy­namic and new age.

Ac­cord­ing to the de­sign firm, the cars have also been in­cor­po­rated as de­sign el­e­ments, thus el­e­vated to con­trib­ute in­evitably to the feel of the show­room as a pre­mier au­to­mo­bile show­room. Large life­style graph­ics which are also vis­i­ble from the out­side gen­er­ate the much needed spice and chutz­pah to the other­wise clean and clut­ter free space
