Lazeez forays into Howrah with first flagship restaurant

The brand plans to open 150 QSR outlets Pan-India very soon and is looking at opportunities to expand overseas. Lazeez, the popular Mughlai and Awadhi Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chain from the house of Shiraz Hotels Pvt. Ltd., opened their first flagship in Howrah. The sprawling, two storied, 2000 sq. ft. area has been divided into two zones having a private dining chamber, a normal sit-in option and Take Away counter. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Director, Shiraz Hotels Pvt Ltd., shares, “Many of our customers travel from Howrah to dine at various outlets of Lazeez. We have received requests galore from these patrons to come up with a branch of Lazeez in Howrah. That is why we decided to not just open an outlet here, but to also ensure that the place can also be a convenient dinein option for people living in and around this area. Apart from the regular menu, we would be offering our signature dishes as well. Before Poila Boisakh this is our gift for the people of Howrah. As per our market research there is no such restaurant in this vicinity and as the Government offices have also shifted here we are expecting a good crowd for our cuisine. This outlet will have the master kitchen which will cater the delicacies into our other 3-4 QSR outlets which we aim to open soon in the other parts of Howrah.” All Lazeez outlets follow a Standard Operating Procedure so that the quality of the food does not degrade and the staff is effectively coordinated. The vision of the brand is to have one or two “flagship” Lazeez restaurants in each city which will be owned and operated in-house and will have inhouse centralized kitchen. On the expansion plans Ishtiaque Ahmed shares, “We have been in the F&B industry for decades now and Shiraz is synonymous with quality Mughlai cuisine. We now want to take this period cuisine to another level and reach out to more patrons across the country. Lazeez has got at present 9 outlets in Kolkata and by next week we are opening two more outlets in Park Street and Ranikuthi in Tollygunge, 6 in Bangalore and 1 in Mumbai and the plan is to open 150 QSR outlets Pan-India very soon like in Delhi and Chennai and we are looking for opportunities beyond India as well. With the growth in F&B sector we are also looking at the Tier II cities apart from expanding in the metros and this process is starting from next month with the launch of our Asansol outlet; we are even targeting Siliguri. These will be 80-100 seater restaurants with sitin facilities and a take-away counter. We have plans to invest 40-50 crore in this QSR format and for expansion we will look at franchise model as well. For setting up small outlets the investment is about 12-15 lakhs and for this type of restaurant it goes up to 40-50 lakhs in minimum.”
