ZINK LON­DON un­veils first In­dian flag­ship store in Kolkata

Zink Lon­don’s roadmap for 2020 is to be present in 300 SIS lo­ca­tions and open 50 flag­ship stores across the coun­try. Zink Lon­don, a ready-to-wear fash­ion, women’s brand launched its first sig­na­ture store at Fo­rum Court­yard, Kolkata. It is the brain­child of Malini Sing­hal and Vivek Goyal who got to­gether to launch an ap­peal­ing range of prod­ucts suited to fash­ion cou­ture of to­day’s con­tem­po­rary woman way back in 2010 in U.K. Spread over 400sq. ft. of space the store will act as a cat­a­lyst to the Kolkata clien­tele known for be­ing stylish and look­ing for va­ri­ety. An­nounc­ing the launch, Malini Sing­hal, Di­rec­tor, ‘Zink Lon­don’, re­sid­ing in Lon­don, tak­ing care of UK & Euro­pean op­er­a­tions, stated, “We are overwhelmed to launch our flag­ship store in Kolkata; it is a sig­nif­i­cant achieve­ment for us and un­der­lines the im­por­tance of this city for ‘Zink Lon­don’. It has been our earnest en­deav­our to en­hance cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence at the store with su­pe­rior prod­ucts, qual­ity crafts­man­ship and a happy ser­vice for all. We started this brand four years back in U.K and started our op­er­a­tions in In­dia since last 18 months through two SIS which has now gone up to 60. Thus we are ex­tremely hope­ful that our flag­ship stores will be able to add on more value to the fash­ion quo­tient of this city. Be­ing head­quar­tered here in Kolkata and hav­ing the best sell­ing SIS stores it has been our ob­vi­ous choice for the launch.” When asked about the rea­son be­hind launch­ing it at Fo­rum, Malini fur­ther adds, “It has got a very young and rich neigh­bour­hood as well as it is lo­cated in an up­mar­ket area of the city.” Speak­ing on the mo­men­tous oc­ca­sion, Vivek Goyal, Di­rec­tor of ‘Zink Lon­don’ said, “A dream project comes true for me and I am ex­tremely ex­cited. The styles are very mod­ern and go hand in hand with the world fash­ion scene. The collection has been made keep­ing in mind the woman of to­day who looks for value for money in the grow­ing, dy­namic world of fash­ion. The roadmap for 2020 is, pres­ence in 300 SIS lo­ca­tions and 50 com­pany-held stores.” On the choice of Fo­rum, Vivek men­tions, “it is a very pre­mium mall and as per our mar­ket re­search we hope to get a niche cus­tomer who are se­ri­ous buy­ers.” The store has been con­cep­tu­al­ized by Vivek and Malini who wanted the Zink Lon­don out­let to look like a very young, colourful and peppy ap­parel des­ti­na­tion for to­day’s women. Vivek shares more on the re­tail de­sign, “We wanted to open a con­cept store in In­dia and thus we gave a feel as if one is shop­ping in the streets of Lon­don. The trial rooms in­side the stores look like the tele­phone booths of Lon­don which is a sig­na­ture of that city. Even win­dow dis­play car­ried the same theme which ap­peals the con­sumers at once. Our aim is to give a great shop­ping ex­pe­ri­ence to all our cus­tomers and Lin­tas our cre­ative agency played a vi­tal role in pro­vid­ing the ap­pro­pri­ate de­sign so­lu­tion to us which matched with the hand­writ­ing or brand phi­los­o­phy of Zink Lon­don. The big­gest chal­lenge for us was to open the store in just 23 days.” The ‘Zink Lon­don’ line of women’s wear is now avail­able at 75 shop-in-shops (SIS) across the coun­try, in Shop­pers Stop, Cen­tral and on­line at Jabong & Myn­tra. “In terms of ex­pand­ing the re­tail foot­prints we want to open an­other store in Kolkata at South City Mall with larger area and have plans to tar­get all the met­ros and Cat­e­gory A cities and then aim to reach out to B cities like In­dore, Jaipur, Luc­know and such,” shares Malini. Vivek agree­ing with the same adds on, “We have huge plans for B town be­cause the pur­chas­ing power is re­ally high and we got to know this through the re­search that we have done via SIS out­lets, apart from this all the met­ros and Tier I cities, be it Mum­bai, Delhi, Ban­ga­lore, Pune, will have our stores. The en­tire east zone is also our tar­get and we plan to have 10-12 stores in this re­gion within three years.”
