Embrace New Technologies

VM&RD - - NEWS -

The digital tsunami has swept across most service industries, especially those that have a direct consumer connect. Current trends suggest it won’t be long before interactive technologies pervade the Indian retail space too. Brands like United Colors of Benetton have already tested the veracity of digital technologies at the store level, having installed lifesize screens at some of their stores giving customers a better feel of the products. Various technology players and service providers are also gearing up to infuse new technologies into the Indian VM and retail space. Consulting and technology firms like Shopsense and VU Technologies are seamlessly integrating e-commerce and in-store experiences with new technology applications. In a similar vein, well know brand Arvind has introduced a web-based application called Creyate that helps customers to customise their garments on screen. This edition of VM&RD brings forth the use of new technologies in the retail space. VM lends itself to recycling of materials. Shopper’s Stop has ably demonstrated this in their EOSS displays. Materials from scrap, trash and the like have been collected to don the elegant displays. Besides, old items from home, paper cups, paper plates, old keyboards, CDs and even wires have been used to create the displays. This eco-friendly approach has been captured in this edition, along with a host of other striking VM initiatives that makes interesting reading. In this edition, we also present a travelogue depicting the fascinating retail landscape of Italy, select international retail design stories, and many more.

Happy Reading!
