The Irish House: In The Heart Of Kolkata

The Irish House, an Irish-style pub opened its double doors for a sound-proof ambience recently in the heart of Kolkata at Quest Mall. The place captures the spirit of traditional pubs back in the grand old Ireland and emulates the same welcoming feel with rustic wooden elements and a subtle pop of colour emerging from the green ceiling. The pub is spread over 2,900 sq. ft and has been meticulously planned to suit the requirements of an ideal meeting place for the large community of pub-goers which includes the after-work crowd, sports and music lovers, foodies and beer lovers. It recreates the very features that have made the brand a cult which includes a large screen for sports matches, one of the largest island bars, great music and beer served in gegs amongst others. The ambience will instantly transport the visitors to Ireland as the place beckons to chill awhile, groove to the music or simply have a good time with friends. While speaking on the launch, Rajiv Singh, General Manager, Global Kitchens (Kolkata) LLP, mentions, “A lot of national and international brands were missing from the demography of the city, so we thought of taking all these under one roof. If we observe, this is the way the Retail and F&B is planned for Quest where a lot of the new brands have entered the East zone market for the first time. The whole vintage look of the interior is planned keeping in mind the traditional Irish Pub culture. The design has been executed by Payal Khanna and her team from Aura Dezyne. As Global Kitchens are the master connoisseurs for most of the brand here in the mall, it is our aim to gift the people of the city a feel of different fine dining variety having an assortment of cuisine.” The whole area has been meticulously divided into various segments like the bar area, cosy private sitting arrangement, community sitting area, and smoking zone to suit the requirement of everyone. The menu also has been designed according to the theme of the restaurant. The lighting arrangement also has been done in such a manner that the focus is mainly on the props which hung on the walls having fun phrases. Thus, Irish House with its wooden interiors and true pub-food and entrees is bound to strike a chord as it takes you back to an old world charm resembling that of 1970s appealing across age groups to be the “go to” destination for a memorable time. The familiarity of this Irish Pub is a key to the experience. Saharsh Parekh, Partner, The Irish House, commented, “Irish House is a philosophy and a way of life. The huge popularity of the brand in Mumbai made it essential for us to bring it to Kolkata. Kolkata with its cosmopolitan culture and fabulous audience was an apt choice to bring the brand to Kolkata. The Irish House is known for its happy hours with 1:1 on brands.” Also speaking on the launch, Harjeet Singh, Group General Manager, Global Kitchens, said, “The wait is finally over. We are thrilled to announce the opening of The Irish House in Kolkata-the City of Joy. Offering a wide selection of international beers and spirits at happy prices matched with the lip-smacking pub classics such as fish and chips, steak and kidney-pie, Irish House is the ideal place for catching all the sports action live on our big screen, something which the city has been waiting for!” Irish House has six operational outlets of which five is located in Mumbai, one in Kolkata and two more are soon going to launch in Bangalore and Chennai
