Innovation is integral to RLT, in their product design and development. As an unceasing pursuit, numerous ideas are translated into products and tested for their design, aesthetics, functionality, performance and reliability. It started with producing LED lamps locally in India, for domestic use many years ago at a price and form that gave a tough challenge to the imported brands which were the only option then. Not only this pioneering work lent us confidence to leap into the LED domain, but also established RLT as a brand that looks into the future. Just at a time when industries and factories all around the country were reeling under the severe power shortage and were desperate for an energy-efficient and reliable LED alternative for the highly powerconsuming High Bay fixtures, RLT launched their LED High Bay fixtures range. This launch was not only an innovation by itself, but was a product that bore many other firsts viz. the form factor, use of active cooling, composite construction, etc. No wonder this product set a benchmark in the industry for high-bay range, and continues to remain so to this date. What followed the above were a series of product innovations that included a Linear LED up-down lighter (the sleekest aluminum extraction housing with an absolute maintenance-friendly construction, and a brilliant spread of light upward and downward), TiltableWall Washer (with an amazing design, form and performance), LED Trunking fixture ( a direct replacement for fluorescent linear fixture in hyper/super market formats) - all these creating a clear point of reference for the rest of the brands.
On application design :
RLT’s innovation in application design is yet another significant differentiator in the way lighting designs are made. While it is normal to work out designs that may be uniform to a specific format in terms of lighting levels or colors, RLT has taken this subject to a different level altogether by aligning lighting that is synonymous with the brand’s philosophy and concepts. For example, in apparels / fashion format, there could be two brands which are catering to completely different sets of clientele. One may be offering formal attires, while the other may be dealing in clothes that are for the youth. RLT’s lighting design brings out a clear distinction in the way these brands are identified with, through a craftymix of light intensities and effects in different areas.
On comprehensive value proposition :
It’s not about just selling products.. The scope is further enlarged through our evaluation and consultancy assistance for conversion from conventional to LED lighting, and even arranging financial support where required.
On measurementstandards :
The only standard measurement of lighting levels has been through a gadget called ‘Lux Meter’ which would directly assess the amount of luminosity. This is called photopic measurement. However in the realm of ‘perceiving’ the light levels in an environment it is different by the human eye, which is scotopic. There is a considerable difference in the amount of light/brightness through a lux meter and the ‘perception’ of lighting level by the human eye. For eg.a higher color temperature activates some area in the eye

leading to perceive the light to be brighter, even though a traditionally photopically designed light meter might indicate otherwise. RLT created awareness on this standard of measurement to their customers and brought a paradigm shift in the method of light measurement in the industry. Yet another innovative approach.
On product testing :
Our own sophisticated, state-of-theart photometric laboratory for testing the efficiency and performance of the luminaires is one of the very few in the industry. Every single product created by us undergoes rigorous tests to ensure that only the best products eventually get added to our range and are offered to our customers. The innovation in this aspect is that we invite our customers to visit our lab and see for themselves our quality and performance standards, and more importantly they are welcome to even do a comparative analysis of our products with any of the competition brands, if they so wish.
