Hi Friends! New age re­tail­ers and brands have in­te­grated cus­tomer en­gage­ment as an in­te­gral part of omni-chan­nel re­la­tion­ships that are be­ing built with cus­tomers across all their touch points. This has pushed dif­fer­ent dis­ci­plines, which have been used to work­ing strictly in their do­mains, to work to­gether. It’s no more un­com­mon for ar­chi­tects, store de­signer, vis­ual mer­chan­dis­ers, dig­i­tal mar­keters, an­i­ma­tion ex­perts, psy­chol­o­gist and en­gi­neers hud­dling to­gether to de­liver unimag­in­able re­tail ex­pe­ri­ence to cus­tomers in stores. It’s time for those cre­at­ing re­tail en­vi­ron­ments to get used to this new work cul­ture of get­ting on the same plat­form. VM&RD has been a pivot for the In-Store Asia 2016 show com­ing up in New Delhi from 4-6th Aug 2016 and this year the fo­cus has been on ‘Get­ting Fu­ture Ready’. The event brings to­gether the dif­fer­ent dis­ci­plines of re­tail ex­pe­ri­ence on one plat­form to share, learn and net­work with each other and also with ex­perts from over­seas. This is­sue also car­ries thoughts from mem­bers of the re­tail ser­vice provider com­mu­nity on what the show has set out to achieve and their role in the mis­sion. The cover story fea­tures Marks & Spencer’s reimag­ined im­agery in their store cre­ated to give cus­tomers a pre­mium bou­tique shop­ping ex­pe­ri­ence with an in­tel­li­gent and stun­ning de­sign con­cept. The In­ter­na­tional vis­ual mer­chan­dis­ing sec­tion fea­tures Nike Town demon­strat­ing how the brand’s new ‘Story of Speed’cam­paign was brought to life with the col­lab­o­ra­tion of dy­namic dis­play and high tech LED light­ing and im­agery. VM&RD’s five top picks of ma­te­rial in­no­va­tions give you a glimpse into re­mark­able in­no­va­tions that will help re­tail en­vi­ron­ment de­sign to be taken to new lev­els. VM&RD’s ‘Re­tail Ya­tra’ stops over in New Delhi, to cover im­por­tant pre­mium re­gional re­tail there and present suc­cess­ful in­de­pen­dent re­tail­ers who dom­i­nate through their dif­fer­en­ti­ated of­fer­ings and ser­vice.
