High quality retail design and visual merchandising has come into its own in India and the VMRD award entries lend credence to this belief. It’s intriguing to see how retailers of Indian merchandise are able to create surround environments that celebrate our traditional sensibilities with colours, textures and forms integrated within the environments. Concurrently, our exposure to international brands informs the quality of retail design and display for global brands. Our legion of retail designers are completely at ease with global trends and it’s not like we are culturally agnostic, it’s more like we have expanded the meaning of vasudhaiva kutumbakam or ‘the world is one family’ into diverse fields of application and sensibility.
