Re­tail en­vi­ron­ments have evolved from be­ing mere places of trans­ac­tions to of­fer­ing ex­pe­ri­ences that in­spire and fa­cil­i­tate in­formed de­ci­sion mak­ing. Dig­i­tal me­dia is used to in­flu­ence and cre­ate di­a­logues with con­sumers to de­velop per­sonal bond­ing and loy­alty. This is all the more ev­i­dent in the case of high in­volve­ment, high in­vest­ment pur­chase cat­e­gories. VM&RD fo­cusses on such a cat­e­gory, cu­rated fur­ni­ture, to bring to light new de­vel­op­ments led by new omni-chan­nel brands.

The cover story fea­tures an In­dian on­line brand, Just Herbs, which has added the off­line chan­nel to use prin­ci­ples of sen­sory brand­ing in ex­pe­ri­ence de­sign to de­liv­ery me­morable ex­pe­ri­ences to its cus­tomers and hence up­ping its brand eq­uity.

The In­dian de­sign story of Kom­pen­ero demon­strates how a tac­tile vin­tage theme used in the brand en­vi­ron­ment de­sign de­liv­ers a dif­fer­en­ti­ated brand ex­pe­ri­ence.

These sto­ries tell with great clar­ity that cu­rated Vis­ual Mer­chan­dis­ing plays a very crit­i­cal role in creat­ing brand ex­pe­ri­ence. In this con­text VM&RD presents top VM Con­sul­tants in India in a spe­cial sec­tion. This sec­tion presents an in­ter­est­ing and di­verse mix of play­ers in this do­main.
