The Art of Humanizing retail
Despite the onset of the age of digital interface, the need for engaging physical spaces are growing in parallel. The craving for the human touch, ‘humanization, is seen in retail design more than ever before. Physical footprints of stores are rapidly increasing across categories and retail design is being used to create inspiring real-life experiences and impact brand preference and loyalty positively.
The cover story features an Indian brand, Asma from New Delhi, which showcase an inspiring environment that used Indian art and culture to present a delightful ‘humanized’ store experience. The Category Special section focusses on Footwear and reveals a lot of insights on the growth of this category which estimates a staggering 800 physical stores added by just a few of the main players!
The organic produce concept is a strong testimony for the respect for the natural. The Indian Design section features the I Say Organic store which features organic produce in an inspiring environment that celebrate this ethos of wellbeing. The Story Teller Bar shows how the very social art of story-telling is used to create an inspiring and differentiated leisure environment.
The Visual Merchandising section features the urban story telling art of Pop Art used in a window display, again reiterating the appreciation of humanization in retail design and presentation. The Design Inspiration section features the artistic duo of Uneditioned Art who transform spaces through hand painting and wall tattoos.
The Material Matters and New Materials section features interesting tactile materials and surface finishes that can be used in retail environments to create inspiring spatial experiences in store environments.
