Bharat Flooring, a name to reckon with since 1922, has been crafting flooring solutions with their customised designs and motifs to augment the living experience. Be it a residential property, a retail space, a commercial landmark, hotels or any institution, Bharat Flooring achieved success in making the flooring as one of the most integral talking point of that space. Firdaus Variava, Vice Chairman, Bharat Floorings & Tiles (Mumbai) in a chat with Nabamita Chatterjee from VMRD shares how the brand is continuously complementing the retail design concepts in the country and their expansion story.
Tell us a little about your clientele coming from the retail design category.
Retail Design as a category has always been one of our biggest customer segment as we are pioneering the customised tile flooring and have got over 200 designs to offer. The retail designers are mostly looking for highend flooring solutions and we have been able to carve that out with our handmade tile solutions.
Do you think the market demand for this sort of flooring is growing rapidly enough?
Today the interior or retail designers or architects are always looking for innovative solutions and not going with anything that is on the shelves. So here lies a greater opportunity for a segment like this to grow.
Tell us about your new product range or launch which will interest our readers.
We are soon coming up with a range of innovative wall claddings which are universal in design and can be applicable to emote any space be it retail, commercial or residential.
When it comes to your own stores how are you positioning it?
We at Bharat Flooring are looking at creating the outlets more like a designer studio rather than giving a typical tile store look. The retail touch points that we have either in Mumbai or Delhi they always have a set of designers who can assist and guide the customers in terms of selecting their right flooring tiles option and suggests how they will look like in their own set up.
Which are the new cities you are looking at entering with EBO’s?
Hyderabad and Chennai are there in the pipeline, where we will have new retail concept from Bharat Flooring as well as revamp some of our existing stores like Delhi, Bangalore, and the Goa store we are soon relaunching in a new area where there will be lot of interesting digital interventions to connect in a more innovative manner with the audience in a new design set up. We are going to use 3D digital projections to showcase how the tiles pattern will look like on the floor once a customer selects them. The studio is getting redesigned by Ayaz Basrai and hope this store will add a new dimension in our journey. For details visit www.bharatfloorings.com •
