Kali Urad Ki Chatpati Khichri
Split black urd dal 1 cup soaked for an hour
1 cup (soaked for hrs) black split urad dal 1/ cup (soaked for 1/ hrs) basmati
2 2 rice or long-grained rice 1 tbsp ginger juliennes 3 chopped fine green chillies 4 cut into long thin pieces onion cut into bite-sized pieces a few dried red chillies salt to taste
2 chopped fine (optional) tomatoes 2 tbsp mustard oil
Heat oil. When it begins to smoke, add and brown onions.
Add ginger, green and red chillies, tomatoes, salt, black pepper, big cardamom.
Add rice and dal. Stir to embed flavours and add about 3 cups water.
Cook till done. Arrange with sauted onion rings and boiled eggs.
Team with fresh curd, pickle or papad and serve.
