A Better Life, A Better World
Panasonic has long been known in Indonesia for its consumer electronics, but in fact, there is much more to the company than that. We talked to Ari Syarif, Commercial B2B and Project Sales Division Head, about the company and how it strives to make lives
Q: Thanks for spending time with us today Ari. Can you tell our readers some more about Panasonic and what the company is involved in?
A: Based on the vision of the company's founding father, Konuske Matsushita, Panasonic is committed to creating a better life and a better world by continuously contributing to the evolution of society and people's wellbeing.
We do this by working closely with our customers and listening to what they desire. This year, the company is celebrating its 99th anniversary, a remarkable achievement and one that is relatively rare.
Although our appliances are a very visible part of the company, we are involved in many different areas and collaborate with a lot of big companies, such as Boeing for in-flight entertainment systems and in-flight broadband services, and Tesla for high-energy density lithium-ion batteries.
Our Eco Solutions company makes highly advanced amorphous silicon solar cells and air purifiers using nano-sized electrostatic atomised water particles, among other things, while other parts of the company are developing Ip-based solutions to make life easier and more convenient for everyone.
Q: Can you tell us about some ongoing projects in Indonesia?
A: Panasonic strives to provide total solutions, from mechanical to electrical to technological products. We are currently collaborating with Tokyu Land in the construction of smart apartments in BSD City, which will have a comprehensive and integrated security system using Panasonic cameras and video intercoms, our backbone switches throughout, as well as an ecofriendly Home Energy Management System installed in every room for easy access and control by residents. All the apartments will be equipped with Panasonic consumer electronics and a dedicated Panasonic service centre will be situated onsite and open 24-hours a day specifically for the building residents.
Our company is about finding practical solutions that improve people's wellbeing, so we embrace both low and very highend tech.
Q: On the topic of homes, can you tell me about Panahome's sustainable smart towns that are being developed in Japan?
A: Panahome is creating sustainable communities and smart living environments in an innovative manner. We already have a Panahome estate in Japan in Fujisawa, which we are studying and refining. It is part of our aim to become a green innovative company. The design is primarily focused on people's lifestyles and we are providing eco and smart solutions for energy, security, mobility, healthcare and community to make a town for the future that can evolve continually. We have one smart town under construction in Malaysia and one planned for Karawang, West Java, starting in 2019.
Going forward, Panasonic will continue contributing to society through its businesses and intends to keep going for at least another 100 years. panasonic.com
