Beauty shots by Mark Thomas
Australian-based photographer Mark Thomas is a regular traveler to Indonesia, especially to the Island of the Gods. His photographic journey started with film cameras and a home darkroom in his youth. He subsequently enjoyed a corporate career that took him to travel the world extensively but at the same time limited his photographic pursuits.
After retiring in 2014, Mark has been combining his love for photography and travel. His main interest is photographing people from different cultures around the world, using both formal portraiture and street photography styles. In this photo collection, Mark focuses on the beauty of Balinese women and embraces traditional clothing and makeup as well as carnival costumes at this year’s Bali Arts Festival opening parade – all of the images were taken with Hasselblad HV plus Zeiss 24-70 mm F2.8.
He hopes that these images portray both the elegance and the vibrancy of Balinese culture.
