The Imperiale Joaillerie from Chopard, for one, doesn’t exactly look like a typical gem-encrusted watch. For one, you won’t immediately see pinpoints of sparkling gems. But, that’s only because the case, dial and bracelet are entirely set with meticulously-cut baguette sapphires to create a dazzling burst of color. What’s more, these gems show subtly graded shades covering the entire color spectrum, from purple to green, to various blues to reds and yellows. The process of obtaining, selecting, cutting and setting the gems alone are already mindboggling, but Chopard ups the ante once again with an equally luminous movement visible through the caseback. In short, they quite literally left no stone unturned.
