DA MAN - Caliber - - NEWS -

This year saw the passing of two prominent figures in the watchmaking world. Last February, German watchmaker and former pilot Helmut Sinn, who founded his eponymous brand in 1961, passed away last February at the age of 101. “It is with the utmost respect that we remember Helmut Sinn’s extraordinary and strong-willed personality, his creativity and dynamism, his energy and his sense of humor,” read a statement from company owner Lothar Schmidt. “The highest tribute must be paid to his achievements as an entrepreneur and as the founder of Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren, the company that laid the foundations for the one we know today.”

Last June, Chairman and CEO of Casio Computer Co., Ltd. Kazuo Kashio, who played a key role in G-Shock wristwatches, passed away at the age of 89. A statement from the brand read: “He devoted his life to the creation of new products that help improve peoples’ lives and learning. He led the Casio management team for 27 years, overseeing the company’s evolution from its foundations laid by former president Tadao Kashio.”
