Un­der the guid­ance of head wine­maker Felipe Tosso, the win­ery was built in the Coastal Maipo Val­ley, where grapes for their first wines were pro­duced. Three years later, they ven­tured into the Casablanca Val­ley and the pres­ti­gious Apalta Val­ley, the source to­day for Vina Ventisquero's pre­mium wines.

Famed oe­nol­o­gist John Du­val, who worked at Pen­folds for al­most 30 years, is one of the two names be­hind this bot­tle. Made solely of Syrah, the wine was aged 20 months in French oak bar­rels (50% new) and an­other 18 months in bot­tle be­fore be­ing re­leased for sale. Flavours of charred wood, cas­sis and black choco­late mark the rather fatty, last­ing mouth.
