BALI’S FIRST SPEAKEASY

Exquisite Taste - - Grapevine - – By Amanda Luxford

Baker Street Social is a tiny bar that is full with just 30 people. While this speakeasystyle venue has no sign outside and a small cocktail menu, those in the know love its rich ambience and creative bartenders.

The dedicated bar team, led by Creative Director Jimmy Burchett, is focused on artisanal spirits and crafting cocktails especially for you. The shelves are packed with homemade infusions, secret concoctions and all the tools of the trade. Tell your bartender what drinks you like and he will choose, or perhaps design, something to satisfy and titillate your palate.

The new signature cocktail menu shows a quirky sense of humour. The pitch black Scarlett was inspired by Scarlett Johansson and hints at her mystique, danger and allure with an intriguing mix of charcoal-infused gin, cherry bitters, absinthe and sparkling wine topped with a cherry. Surprisingly dry on the tongue, Scarlett slips down easily and packs a punch.

Another movie-inspired drink is Deadpool, a wondrously delicious combination of rums, whisky, raspberry syrup, aperol, lime juice, bitters and rosemary, accompanied by a tiny Deadpool figure slouching in the glass.

Whatever your cocktail choice, be it a simple negroni or a Red Velvet “cake in a glass”, Baker Street Social's bartenders will look after you.

Situated above Shearlock Barbershop, opposite Metis, Baker Street Social is open Monday to Saturday from 8PM to 2AM.
