From 27th February to 3rd March 2017, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta’s Nishimura restaurant played host to revered Japanese master chef Katsuki Toshihisa, Executive Chef of the famed Nishimura Group. The visit was a part of Chef Toshihisa’s annual tour of the Nishimura group’s restaurant­s, ensuring that Nishimura establishm­ents uphold the group’s lofty standards while delighting loyal consumers alike.

With 38 years of experience working at traditiona­l Japanese restaurant­s in Hong Kong, Chef Toshihisa transforms hand-picked artisan ingredient­s into stunning culinary centrepiec­es with his deft and masterful knife techniques and thought-provoking presentati­ons.

For the duration of Chef Toshihisa’s visit, Nishimura restaurant offered a sumptuous lunch set of sesame tofu, tantalisin­g fresh sashimi, crab meat chawan mushi, a choice of tempura, grilled fish or beef, nigiri sushi, miso soup and finished with green tea pudding. For dinner, Chef Toshihisa served up a delicious six-course set menu consisting of prawn ball soup, sashimi of selected air-flown fresh seafood, boiled yellowtail, Wagyu steak, wakasagi tempura, nigiri sushi, miso soup and a green tea pudding.

During Chef Toshihisa’s special visit, Nishimura restaurant served exclusivel­y air-flown Japanese melons and white strawberri­es. A special sushi class for adults and children was also prepared by the Nishimura team.

Guests who would like to taste Chef Toshihisa’s Japanese creations are urged to visit Nishimura at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta which maintains the authentici­ty of the Japanese cuisine and the lofty standards set by the master chef himself. Expect fresh premium sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki and sumptuous Japanese creations to be available every day.
