A new cathe­dral of flavours

An ex­cit­ing new restau­rant has opened in Seminyak, a spa­cious new venue from the Gin­ger Moon fam­ily and Mas­ter Chef Dean Ked­dell, which presents tempt­ing dishes in­spired by Asia with a spe­cial twist.

De­signed with to­geth­er­ness in mind, Jack­son Lily's has an up­stairs din­ing room with a spa­cious all-weather bal­cony that lends it­self per­fectly to gath­er­ings, par­ties and pri­vate events for up to 100, while down­stairs is cooled by air-con­di­tion­ing and has so­fas from which to watch the world go by, a mas­sive ta­ble for a large party and var­i­ous other seat­ing op­tions for groups of all sizes.

The large open kitchen is bustling with busy chefs who have be­come ex­perts in their own right un­der Dean's guid­ance, a pas­try dis­play to tempt din­ers to leave room to in­dulge and a long bar. The am­bi­ence is wel­com­ing, the staff at­ten­tive and the food good enough that din­ers are sure to re­turn.

Us­ing high-qual­ity pro­duce that is pre­dom­i­nantly lo­cally sourced, the menu has some­thing for every­one, in­clud­ing shar­ing menus for two. The sal­ads are in­no­va­tive and re­fresh­ing, the pizza comes on a board by the me­tre, noo­dle dishes in­clude mie goreng, “Car­bonara” with XO sauce and char sui pork and Hokkien bolog­naise, while main dishes range from Asian-style meat balls and sweet & sour pork belly to grilled Aus­tralian steaks and teriyaki pork chops. The dumplings are not to be missed, es­pe­cially the wa­ter spinach, which sur­pris­ingly re­sem­bles an Asian ravi­oli and is gor­geous. The desserts in­clude ar­ti­sanal cheeses from Bali, home­made cakes and ice-cream.

The drinks list is also di­verse with novel trop­i­cal cock­tails, fresh juices and a small wine se­lec­tion. Of­fer­ing valet park­ing and hav­ing a per­fect lo­ca­tion for the walk-in crowd, Jack­son Lily's is sure to be a hit with both res­i­dents and tourists.
