KIM DONG YOO
Born in 1965 in Kongju, Dongyoo Kim began to exhibit his work in 1989, first mainly in Korea, then in galleries and museums throughout the world.
Dong-yoo Kim has been a celebrated household name in Asia for more than three decades, and has recently garnered a global reputation as a master of painting. His painting Queen Elizabeth II and Diana, 2011,was part of the monumental exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, “The Queen: Art& Image.”
Known for works influenced by Andy Warhol and pop art, the Korean artist has previously produced a portrait of Christian Dior for Esprit Dior show in Seoul. He portrays the couturier, someone he sees as an “iconic figure”, and uses double imagery inside their face of another iconic figure, only visible at close range.
