Born in 1965 in Kongju, Dongyoo Kim be­gan to ex­hibit his work in 1989, first mainly in Korea, then in gal­leries and mu­se­ums through­out the world.

Dong-yoo Kim has been a cel­e­brated house­hold name in Asia for more than three decades, and has re­cently gar­nered a global rep­u­ta­tion as a mas­ter of paint­ing. His paint­ing Queen El­iz­a­beth II and Diana, 2011,was part of the mon­u­men­tal ex­hi­bi­tion at the Na­tional Por­trait Gallery in Lon­don, “The Queen: Art& Im­age.”

Known for works in­flu­enced by Andy Warhol and pop art, the Korean artist has pre­vi­ously pro­duced a por­trait of Chris­tian Dior for Esprit Dior show in Seoul. He por­trays the cou­turier, some­one he sees as an “iconic fig­ure”, and uses dou­ble im­agery in­side their face of an­other iconic fig­ure, only vis­i­ble at close range.
