Artemis Art

Harper's Bazaar Art (Indonesia) - - Exhibition Highlight - Ajim Juxta

Though based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Artemis Art initially aimed to promote contemporary art in their homeland as well as in Indonesia with early collections deriving from the artisan town of Yogyakarta. Today they have broaden the scope of their artwork to include other Southeast Asian countries, providing platforms to further empowered a variety of artists and to help raise the level of art appreciation in Malaysia. Their talent rosters include the local visual artist, Ajim Juxta, the top three winner of the Young Art Work at this year's Young Art Taipei, whose body of work covers several mediums like pen and ink, found-object sculptures, and paintings on canvas with inspiration taken mostly from dystopian realities; Dedi Sufriadi from Palembang, South Sumatera, winner of Young Art Award at Young Art Taipei 2015, whose narratives are driven by historical iconography as well as current ones; and last but not least the up-andcoming Indra Dodi from Padang, West Sumatera, who will bring his wondrous collection of unaffected child-eyes paintings, simply absorbing the detail of the world around us without passing judgment.
