Galerie Joaquin

Harper's Bazaar Art (Indonesia) - - Exhibition Highlight - Ombok

If one of the functions of an art gallery is to preserve, then the Galerie Joaquin has done its part. Not only nurturing upand-coming contemporary visual artists, they have also focused their effort on showcasing the artworks of established masters, such as their major showing of National Artist, Arturo Luz, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, Abdulmari Imao, and Presidential Medal of Merit, Juvenal Sanso. Galerie Joaquin was founded in 2002 in the City of San Juan in Metro Manila, Philippines, and they were the first Filipino gallery to open in Singapore. Their featured artist, Rustom Cleofe “Ombok” Villamor, whose exhibition held earlier this year was a definitive hit, will be bringing his art-imitating-life artworks to Bazaar Art Jakarta, namely his primordial and otherworldly depictions of sea-life— influenced from his childhood home on the shores of his native Samar, no doubt.
