Unable to study at a formal art school, Arifien Neif chose to selfteach art involving attending art discussions by artist maestros such as Affandi and Hendra Gunawan. However, this unique way of learning has shaped him to become a painter capable to

strip all intellectual logic and completely focus on feelings. “I paint to express my feelings and emotional side on to a canvas using colors as my language. If I learned art formally, my creative

process would always be corrected and my creations would lean to perfect,” explained Arifien. Creating art with all his heart, Arifien suggests enjoying his creations using feelings. “Enjoying art is done by sharpening your feelings. If people continuously

think using logics, we will only find a relative truth, while if we think with our feelings or faith, we will find an absolute truth.”
