AN ADVENTURE IN ACEH AS TOLD BY FOODIE-CUMFAMILY MAN, WILL MEYRICK
Last time I was in Aceh instead of heading to Sabang as planned I was running down the winding stairs of the Hermes Palace Hotel with my “not so young anymore” mother. It was 2008 and an earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale was shaking the northern region, pulsating through the ground. Now over eight years later I’m back, this time with new plans and a full compliment of family: three kids and my wife. We are at the same hotel, the Hermes Palace, only briefly, since we are heading to the island of Sabang, Indonesia’s most northern point. But we take our time looking around.
