Women’s weightlift­ing was in­tro­duced as an Olympic sport at the Syd­ney 2000 Games. Lisa Rumbewas was among 85 fe­male con­tes­tants from 47 coun­tries. In the 48kg di­vi­sion, she tied with Amer­i­can Tara Nott but failed to make one at­tempted lift, so had to set­tle for the sil­ver medal. It was In­done­sia’s first weightlift­ing medal. Lisa won another sil­ver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, com­pet­ing in the women's 53kg cat­e­gory and lift­ing 210kg in to­tal. She also won a sil­ver medal at the 2006 World Weightlift­ing Cham­pi­onships in Santo Domingo. At the 2008 Bei­jing Olympics, she won a bronze medal. She fi­nally won gold when com­pet­ing in the 58kg di­vi­sion at the 2009 SEA Games in Vi­en­tiane, Laos. She was coached by her mother, Ida Korwa.
