Spanish artist Maximo Ruera has created a range of chairs entitled the “Animal Chairs” collection, which was inspired by the shapes of an octopus, a rhino, an elephant and a hippo, all made from high-density polyurethane combined with a metallic frame. The production process takes nine to 11 weeks, meaning that each individual animal chair takes 480 hours to make. “This collection gives us the option of admiring what nature is capable of; this is the main reason why from the beginning I wanted to be faithful to the animal’s physique,” said the designer. “This series is an homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing.”
