“When I was a child, my mum’s hobby was to renovate our house,” explained the owner of Kenari Djaja, Hendry Sjarifudin. “I used to accompany her when she met design teams, and I used to hear them discuss design technicalities and concepts; over time, I became familiar with these myself.” Eventually, he joined the family company, Kenari Djaja, in 2005. Focusing on interior fittings such as door handles, Sjarifudin has brought changes to the company, mostly in the area of following and setting design trends. “In 1990s era, classic styles were the trend, although this gave way to more modern minimalistic styles in the early 2000s; now, the trend is transforming again into something tropical with classical touches,” he explained.
