Ang­gun Cipta Sasmi or pop­u­larly known as Ang­gun is the first In­done­sian singer to go in­ter­na­tional. Her al­bums have been cer­ti­fied Gold and Plat­inum in sev­eral Euro­pean coun­tries. Her ca­reer in mu­sic be­gan in 1986. Ang­gun, who was born in Jakarta on 29 April 1974 and cur­rently has French cit­i­zen­ship, has won the pres­ti­gious Che­va­lier des Arts et Let­tres from the French gov­ern­ment and World’s Best Selling In­done­sian Artist from World Mu­sic Awards. Ang­gun has twice been ap­pointed as the good­will am­bas­sador by UN for Mi­cro­cre­dit pro­gram (2005) and by Food and Agri­cul­ture Or­ga­ni­za­tion (FAO) in 2009.
