Ghea Sukarya Panggabean
Born in Rotterdam in 1955, Ghea Panggabean is recognized as one of Indonesia’s top fashion designers, responsible for a renaissance in Indonesia’s ethnic textile tradition. Her textiles make strong use of folklore, including the Jumputan tie-dyed fabrics that have become her trademark. Ghea has received international acclaim, including the Best of ASEAN Designers Award and the Apparel Trophy for Indonesia’s best ready-to-wear design, along with top honours from Indonesia’s Tourism and Culture ministries. She has two twin-daughters, Janna and Amanda Soekasah.
