Born in Watampone, South Sulawesi on 15 May 1942, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla is Vice President of Republic of Indonesia. He was sworn in as vice president on 20 October 2014 to accompany Joko Widodo in leading the nation. Jusuf Kalla is known as a very successful businessman founding the multi-corporation Kalla Group. Jusuf Kalla chaired Golkar Party in 2004, aside from having expansive experience in the government, including working as Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister for People’s Welfare. He is also active in social and humanitarian activities; he is the chairman of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in 2014-2019 period.
