Born in Watam­pone, South Su­lawesi, on May 15, 1942, Muham­mad Jusuf Kalla is In­done­sia’s Vice Pres­i­dent. He was sworn in on Oc­to­ber 20, 2014, to ac­com­pany Joko Wi­dodo in lead­ing the na­tion. Jusuf Kalla is known as a very suc­cess­ful busi­ness­man, found­ing the multi­na­tional Kalla Group. He was also Vice Pres­i­dent of In­done­sia from 2004-2009 work­ing to­gether with then-pres­i­dent Susilo Bam­bang Yud­hoy­ono. Aside from his ex­pan­sive ex­pe­ri­ence in govern­ment, in­clud­ing work­ing as Min­is­ter of In­dus­try and Trade and Min­is­ter for Peo­ple’s Wel­fare, he is also ac­tive in so­cial and hu­man­i­tar­ian ac­tiv­i­ties and is Chair­man of In­done­sian Red Cross for the 2014-2019 pe­riod.
