Born in Watampone, South Sulawesi, on May 15, 1942, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla is Indonesia’s Vice President. He was sworn in on October 20, 2014, to accompany Joko Widodo in leading the nation. Jusuf Kalla is known as a very successful businessman, founding the multinational Kalla Group. He was also Vice President of Indonesia from 2004-2009 working together with then-president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Aside from his expansive experience in government, including working as Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister for People’s Welfare, he is also active in social and humanitarian activities and is Chairman of Indonesian Red Cross for the 2014-2019 period.
