Scottish-born American financial journalist and author Bertie Charles Forbes and his associate Walter Drey, then General Manager of the Magazine of Wall Street, set up Forbes magazine on September 15, 1917. So, to herald the 99th anniversary of the most powerful business magazine brand in the world, Forbes Indonesia threw an Annual Private Dinner entitled “Celebrating 99 Years of Forbes” on September 1 at The Nusantara Room at the Dharmawangsa Jakarta. Hosting this very exclusive event—and to honour those rare individuals who have graced the magazine’s cover over the past six years and a select group of VVIP invitees—were Prof. Dr. Dato’ Sri Tahir MBA, Chairman of Mayapada Group, and Mrs Maria Lukito, Vice President Commissioner of Forbes Indonesia. An inspiring speech by guest-

ofhonour Steve Forbes, who flew in all the way from New Jersey especially for this event, guided the crowd to a lavish menu of Lemongrass Cured Salmon, Warm Onion Consommé, Angus Beef Tenderloin and Dulcey Chocolate Mousse. A harp and piano duet enlivened the black-tie happening with a potpourri of evergreen melodies.
