In­done­sia’s Fi­nance Min­is­ter Sri Mulyani In­drawati re­ceives the Best Min­is­ter Award at the World Gov­ern­ment Sum­mit in Dubai

In­done­sian Min­is­ter of Fi­nance Sri Mulyani In­drawati has been crowned the Best Min­is­ter in the World. Re­spon­si­ble for helm­ing the bud­get of South­east Asia’s largest econ­omy, the min­is­ter was pre­sented with the award by the United Arab Emi­rates’ Prime Min­is­ter Shaikh Mo­ham­mad Bin Rashid Al Mak­toum at the sixth an­nual World Gov­ern­ment Sum­mit in Dubai on Fe­bru­ary 11. “Under her man­date, In­done­sia achieved tan­gi­ble re­sults in re­duc­ing poverty, im­prov­ing the stan­dard of living, re­duc­ing pub­lic debt and boost­ing the trans­parency of pub­lic trans­ac­tions,” the award­ing com­mit­tee stated. The Lam­pung­born econ­o­mist was also recog­nised for her ef­forts to fight cor­rup­tion and in­crease trans­parency in gov­ern­ment. In a video mes­sage posted on­line, Sri Mulyani In­drawati as­serted: “The award recog­nises Pres­i­dent Joko Wi­dodo’s lead­er­ship in In­done­sia’s fi­nan­cial and eco­nomic re­forms since he took of­fice in Oc­to­ber 2014.”
