“We now understood why black features so strongly at the Bvlgari Resort. It combines perfectly with the natural surroundings “

Be captivated by serenity in warm, luxurious surroundings that make you wish you will never need to leave the place. Be captivated by attentiveness of the staff, whom you wish you could take home with you ...

We had heard about its reputation over the years as one of the sought-after resorts for a honeymoon destination. It had raised our expectations of how much the place could wow a newlywed couple. Our expectations rose even higher as we were really hoping to find the ultimate sanctuary for relaxation after the stress of the wedding, and to rekindle the spark of romance.

When we arrived, the walls composed of large black blocks made us feel somewhat apprehensive: Somehow, black and a honeymoon did not seem to go well togther. Would we lose that romantic spark?

We had a good look round at the views, the pool, outdoor Jacuzzi, restaurants, private beach, cable car, spa, bungalow, private pool and the much talkedabout sunken bath – all things we had seen at other five-star establishments. Nothing, so far, had taken our breath away.

While in the outdoor lounge overlooking the sea, there did not seem to be anything obviously captivating, yet somehow a warm, relaxing feeling came over us. Was it the seats, the view or sea breeze, the drizzle or even the smile and gentle voice of the welcoming waiter? Maybe it was a little of all of these ...

As the moon peeped through our bedroom windows, we got ready for our candle-lit dinner. We headed for the fine-dining restaurant and opted for the degustation menu to sample a bit of everything. It proved to be the ideal choice, for the aroma of the dishes, the flavours and the red wine took us on a culinary journey that left us totally mellow for the three hours we spent there – what a way to end the evening!

Next morning we were awoken by gentle morning sun and the lapping of the waves. We went for breakfast and were impressed by the top-notch selection in the buffet. The a la carte menu was even better: How about a Kobe beefburger with fresh salad for breakfast?

Lunch was no less impressive: We enjoyed it on a private beach surrounded by white sand. The ultrafresh seafood selection with simple spices and sauces required minimal cooking.

By now it was becoming increasingly obvious that much of the longestablished Bvlgari reputation rests on the top-quality ingedients it uses in the meals it serves.

After lunch, we were pampered by the spa treatment for couples. We fell in love with the spa the moment we walked through the complex and headed for our couple’s suite. The massage produced an overwhelming feeling of relaxation that overcame all our senses.

Our suite had been designed in such a way that you simply did not want to step outside. It was imbued with a feeling of understated luxury that could be seen as well as smelt, for the distinctive aroma was utterly relaxing and soporific.

One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the attentiveness of the staff. They always seemed to be one step ahead and went that extra mile to ensure we had whatever we needed, even on matters of detail that others might ignore.

We were pampered beyond our imagination during our four-day stay and somehow just did not want the experience to come to an end. Realising we simply could not replicate this at home, we promised ourselves we would return for the sake of our mind and soul.

We now understood why black features so strongly at the Bvlgari Resort. It combines perfectly with the natural surroundings – the cliffs and whitesand beach, the mangroves, forest and monkeys – to create a sanctuary of serentiy for couples to rejuvenate the spark of their romance. The unbelievable attentiveness of the staff is the icing on the cake.
