Balinese Elegance in Jimbaran
Bali’s fascinating culture, steeped in tradition, awaits you at Belmond Jimbaran Puri Bali.
When I arrived at Belmond Jimbaran Puri Bali I could feel the Balinese atmosphere. The statue, the painting around the wall in the lobby, and the traditional villa caught the essence of the island. There were many high trees, palm trees, and some flowers in the middle of villa, in front of the beach and, all the way to my room, I could feel the cool air, even though the weather was hot. Jimbaran Bay is one Bali’s top destinations, renowned for its pristine sand and calm, inviting waters. Belmond Jimbaran Puri sits at the heart of this wide bay, whose western outlook affords spectacular sunset views. This villa is a convenient 10 minutes’ drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. For those familiar with the Belmond, the mention of this travel brandname will bring heartwarming memories of nostalgic vacations. Featuring a collection of hotels, rail journeys and river cruise adventures across six continents, the Belmond is renowned for offering travelers authentic travel experiences no matter where they are. “The Belmond experience generally covers four values: delight, discovery, authenticity & character”, explains I Kadek Budiartha, Assistant Director of Sales. “In Belmond Jimbaran Puri Bali, these are translated into unique luxury resort accommodations, rejuvenating activities, excellent services and quality offerings. We want our guests to have the best authentic local experience of Bali while making sure they are well-cared for during their stay here”. While I was sitting in the lobby awaiting check-in, I saw the infinity-edge pool was an emerald oasis in the heart of the resort. Terraced into the landscape with blue-green natural stone tiles, fresh water cascades from fountains. Palm trees rustled overhead and fragrant flowers fringed the edges, making me plan to swim after I checked in. A two-bedroom deluxe pool villa was my accommodation. It was spacious, there were three areas, two were bedrooms and one was a garden with pool. There were two bale (gazebos) in the corner of the garden, four sun beds and a coconut palm in the middle. I really liked my villa – it offered the ultimate sanctuary, the master bedroom had a king-sized bed and the second bedroom offered a twin set-up. Cool marble floors and teak furnishings graced the spacious living area. A high-tech entertainment system blended subtly with traditional Balinese art. You could recline on the oversized day-bed and look out onto the azure pool. Each
bedroom enjoyed exquisite en-suite facilities. Guests could soak in the blackstone tub filled with fragrant salts or refresh themselves in the powerful indoor rainhead showers. Overlooking lush lily ponds and across the sweeping shore, Tunjung Restaurant has an idyllic setting. I began my day here with a choice of spectacular buffet breakfast or à la carte menu. Tunjung restaurant offered exotic fruits, delicate pastries, fresh juices and mouth-watering cheeses and cured meats. When night comes the café transforms into an intimate candlelit venue where I could discover the best Indonesian cuisine. Tunjung Restaurant opens daily for breakfast and dinner. When stayed here, I tried to pamper myself at The Beach SPA. A treatment at the beachside spa delights all the senses: Lie down at the traditional open-air terraces, or bale under cooling shade, and yield to the therapist’s touch for the 60-minute Balinese massage and continue with Balinese coffee scrub. While listening to the gentle lapping of the waves, I felt the warm sea breeze and inhaled the fresh aroma of therapeutic oils. I completed my spa session with a dip in the double whirlpool bath while I gazed across the sparkling sea. I liked to spend some time in the library. It was a cool, calm sanctuary, ideal for a relaxing read. One could peruse at leisure the books, magazines, newspapers and DVDs in multiple languages. The library is decadently furnished with plush armchairs, cushions and teak bookshelves. Floor-to-ceiling windows let the light in and allowed views of the lily-pond and the ocean beyond. There was also an Imac computer for internet access. I could easily spend all day here. Beside the library there was a boutique. This featured exquisite items that reflect the island’s artisanal heritage. I could find delicate scarves in vibrant batik designs, sculptures based on intricate detailing from Hindu temples or wooden eggs painted in traditional Balinese style. There was jewellery carved from precious jade, incense sticks, candles and oils that capture the heady scents of Bali. Also available were spa ingredients like oils, soaps and lotions created from nourishing, indigenous ingredients, an authentic stone statue, dining set with a green china teapot, etc. and if you stay at a Deluxe Pool Villa you can shop from the comfort of your suite. Simply select from the in-room catalogue and the item will be beautifully wrapped and presented to you in 24 hours.
