Margaret Vivi is a classic Oriental beauty who is invited to all of most glamorous parties in Jakarta. Her business mission is “to present superior beauty services that inspire women to become more confident”

Margaret Vivi, our glamorous and perfectly poised Socialite of the Year, likes to get out and about. this classic Oriental beauty can be spotted at many of the hottest parties in Jakarta. “i enjoy going to events that have an elegant ambience, parties that attract a significant amount of interest in the entertainment or business industries,” says the wife of Hartono Hosea, founder of Hotel accor group in indonesia and Director of Sun Motor, and mother of Karen Vendela Hosea, aged 19, and Warren Sundoro Hosea, 13.

“For me, all of the parties i go to are amazing,” Vivi continues. “this is because i can meet my friends and experience different moments in the party. i am lucky enough to have some famous indonesian designers to help me create the dresses i wear to parties. But i also need to suit their designs with the matching theme and dress code. Like other entrepreneurs, my time is fairly precious. So i try to make sure that the networking events i go to are relevant and that they will help me achieve both my business and my personal goals.”

Vivi is the smart businesswoman behind the Jean Yip group beauty brand in indonesia. Her mission is “to present superior beauty services that inspire women to become more confident in their own skin”. She plans to develop and upgrade the treatment technologies and systems at her Jean Yip salons at Mall Pondok indah 2 and Mall Kelapa gading 3 during 2015. Staffed by trained professionals, these are one-stop beauty care salons that provide a comprehensive range of hairdressing, beauty and slimming services, including roller skin therapy, oxygen therapy rejuvenation, the r6 Skin reovolution system, slimming and body contouring, and the therma tight rf Skin and Body Shaping System. the brand was founded in Singapore in 1982.

“every woman, no matter what her age, desires beautiful and healthy skin, and i see that as a good prospect for me to explore opportunities in the beauty business,” says Vivi. “i want Jean Yip to always be the superior brand in the indonesian beauty industry. and i also want to expand my business. in the future, i plan to cooperate with a doctor from South Korea in opening an aesthetic surgery in Jakarta.”

Successful in business, Vivi does not forget to give back. “Jean Yip Salon is known for its social responsibility projects in Singapore, and we are working on several projects here in indonesia,” she notes. “We are helping victims of floods in rural areas recover their lives, and there are a nursing home foundation and an orphanage that i support. i want to help children who are living in poverty and give them opportunities to have a better life.”

Vivi is a gifted party organiser in her own right. “the biggest party i have ever organised was Karen’s ‘Sweet Seventeen’ birthday party at Pullman Jakarta Central Park,” she tells us. “We turned the ballroom into an underwater world. the entrance to the ballroom became a gigantic aquatic corridor with fishes swimming around. even the birthday cake was very aquatic, with a sea shell put on top of it. What was interesting was that, even though the stage was playfully decorated, the ballroom was elegant and showed a sense of maturity. it was like a symbol of Karen’s journey from teenager to adult. Personally, there are no better highlights than being together with my family in a festive moment. as the year is coming to a close, the members of my family will be complete. My daughter, who studies abroad, will be coming back to indonesia and we can celebrate Christmas and New Year together.”

Finally, what are Vivi’s tips for hosting the perfect party? “i think what makes an unforgettable party is something that creates meaning in our hearts,” she replies. “When i’m developing themes and concepts, i rake ideas from my past experiences and from having attended so many spectacular events, like the Prestige gala. My main advice is that you should be adventurous and never stop learning about new things. You must prepare well and focus on your capabilities. For example, if you are a humorous person, try to develop a theme with humour. You must enjoy yourself at your own party - but don’t forget to stop behind the safety line!”
