One of the most striking figures to be seen at Jakarta’s most glamorous social events, Junita Liesar stuns everyone with her enviable shape and showstopping outfits

Junita Liesar has a most demanding schedule as the Chair of three companies. But nothing can stop this businesswoman and mother of three from looking absolutely fabulous wherever she goes. Dressing up is her ultimate pick-me-up, in fact. and that is appropriate because Junita is Prestige’s Fashion icon of 2015. One of the most striking figures to be seen at Jakarta’s highly anticipated social events, she routinely stuns everyone with her enviable shape and her show-stopping outfits, which she always manages to carry off with her unmistakable million-dollar smile.

it’s no surprise to learn that this ageless beauty was a model in her younger years. Junita earned a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality from england’s Bournemouth university and went on to gain work experience in the marketing and public relations fields. today, she is the Chair of Jade Mining, Jade energy and Jade resources. she is also the founder of a travel agency, Quality holiday.

For this frequent business traveller, dressing well is a morning routine. “it’s a good way to start my day on the right note,” she explains. “When i feel good about myself, i feel like i have some extra power to do what i have to do throughout the day. in fact, i feel like i can conquer the world!”

Junita is all smiles as she checks out the dresses she will wear for her it List shoot. a fairytale-like red ball gown from Didi Budiardjo, a theatrical skeleton-inspired backless dress by adrian Gan, a Victorian-inspired lace dress from sebastian Gunawan, an edgy bustier ensemble by eddy Betty and a futuristic tube dress in silver by tex saverio are among her selections. “they look amazing. i’m honoured to be wearing masterpieces from some of the country’s most respected designers,” Junita beams. “as much as i can, i support the local fashion industry, and it’s heartening to see more and more young talented indonesian designers coming along.”

among the new indonesian designers on Junita’s radar are ivan Gunawan, Yogie Pratama and hian tjen. “What separates a good dress from a great dress is the fit,” she says. “a good dress can be picked up from retail stores. But a great dress for me is the one that’s like a second skin. it’s something that feels personal, something that you can only get from a top-notch bespoke service. that’s why sebastian is one of my favourite designers.”

Junita matches her gracious demeanour with a regal sense of style. On a working day, she might be seen in a black Dior jumpsuit, which accentuates her long legs while suggesting professional power. sky-high stilettos are among her preferred accessories. at evening affairs, including some of the city’s high-profile fashion shows, Junita is often spotted in one of her exquisite gowns, which characteristically bare the shoulders and present a dash of drama with their floor-sweeping length or puffed-up skirt. anyplace she walks into, she carries the look with true poise.

“i think a woman should always hold on to her confidence, but stay humble while she’s at it,” says Junita, who loves her Chanel pearl necklaces. “a positive attitude will bring out one’s inner beauty. Without that, no matter how great your dress looks people will always try to find fault. as Coco Chanel once said: ‘ Dress shabbily and they will remember the dress. Dress impeccably and they will remember the woman.’” When it comes to fashion, Junita believes that a woman’s mindset is just as powerful as whatever she puts on. “the first step to looking great is to think, and feel, that you look great,” she declares. “it’s easy to say it, but it takes a lot of courage to live it.”

Over the years, this fabulous fashionista has developed a distinctive personal style. among her most treasured possessions are her hermès croco bags and clutches, her audemars Piguet, richard Mille, Franck Muller and rolex timepieces, and her Christian Louboutin, Casadei and Dior shoes. has Junita thought about going into the fashion business herself? “as a matter of fact, i’m planning to launch my own clothing line,” she announces as the interview session comes to an end. “i have assembled an amazing team full of talented individuals, and i can’t wait to start working with them.” and with that startling announcement, she grabs her signature oversized sunglasses and dashes off to her next appointment.
