Cooking for a cause
Happy Hearts Indonesia ( HHF Indonesia), in partnership with Modena, held a series of cooking classes with Chef Gilles Marx of Amuz Gourmet Restaurant and home cooks Yvonne Yuen and Duangporn “Pop” Achanai at Modena Experience Centre in Dr. Satrio from August 13 to 15. The first day saw Yvonne demonstrating three Chinese favourites to over 40 eager participants. “I started cooking because I was homesick. When I moved to Indonesia at 19, I missed the dishes I had in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Cooking has always been an emotional experience for me,” said Yvonne. The next day, Pop went back to her roots for an authentic Thai cooking class. Finally, Chef Gilles showed his know-how of French cuisine on the last day. The classes, which culminated in a charity dinner, raised funds for HHF Indonesia to rebuild schools in Indonesia. Prestige was the Official Media Partner.
