RI painter Gatot wins UOB Prize
United Overseas Bank (UOB), a Singapore-based multinational banking firm, announced on Nov. 9 that an Indonesian’s work had won the UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year award.
The award-winning painting is the work of 36-year-old Gatot Indrajati. His contest submission, titled Right or
Wrong My Home, wowed judges with the innovative way in which it combined contemporary painting styles with Indonesia’s traditional art medium of wood.
This is the third year in a row Indonesia has won this prestigious award. Indonesia is also the first country to win the award three times in a row.
This painting will be on display at the UOB Art Gallery at UOB Plaza in Singapore until February.
