RI painter Ga­tot wins UOB Prize

United Over­seas Bank (UOB), a Sin­ga­pore-based multi­na­tional bank­ing firm, an­nounced on Nov. 9 that an In­done­sian’s work had won the UOB South­east Asian Paint­ing of the Year award.

The award-win­ning paint­ing is the work of 36-year-old Ga­tot In­dra­jati. His con­test sub­mis­sion, ti­tled Right or

Wrong My Home, wowed judges with the in­no­va­tive way in which it com­bined con­tem­po­rary paint­ing styles with In­done­sia’s tra­di­tional art medium of wood.

This is the third year in a row In­done­sia has won this pres­ti­gious award. In­done­sia is also the first coun­try to win the award three times in a row.

This paint­ing will be on dis­play at the UOB Art Gallery at UOB Plaza in Sin­ga­pore un­til Fe­bru­ary.
