RI IN FINALS OF 2016 WORLD HALAL TOURISM AWARDS
United Arab Emirates, Nov. 7 to 24
This year, an annual international competition called the World Halal Tourism Awards is again being conducted. The award is given to destinations that support halal tourism and includes categories like facilities and Muslim tourist-friendly treatment, with the availability of mosques and copies of the Quran as some of the main indicators. Last year, Indonesia won in three categories of the award, beating Malaysia as its closest competitor. Tourism Minister Arif Yahya said that in order to help Indonesia win again this year, the people could help by voting for the Indonesian finalists in the competition through a website called voteindonesia.com. By boosting Indonesia’s tourism sector, gross domestic product, foreign exchange reserves and job opportunities all increase.
