Sekolah Pelita Harapan, assisting students to find the best-fit universities
Sekolah Pelita Harapan is a group of five schools in Jakarta, offering Indonesian citizens and expatriates a quality, international standard of education in which English is the language of instruction. Our schools use either the IBO or Cambridge curricula, which employ the world’s bestpractice pedagogy and curriculum design. SPH schools emphasize internationalism and an Indonesian identity through language and cultural studies as a means of preparing Indonesian citizens for their place in Indonesian society and the world.
SPH’s university-acceptance rate has been proven over the years. In 2016, SPH (all campuses) saw 193 students graduate with an IB diploma. Almost all of them continue to pursue higher education at various universities all over the world.
Staying true to our purpose to educate and empower our students, SPH provides students a holistic approach in their pursuit of wisdom. This helps to produce well-balanced students sought after by universities all over the world.
Career counseling programs at SPH aim to help students to be well-informed as they decide on their higher education career and university choices. Their preparation starts as early as grade 9, and, guided by our counselors, continues up to their graduation in grade 12. School career counselors play a significant role in helping students apply to the best-fit universities, considering their capacity, academic profile and calling in life.
How does the career-counseling program assist our students, you may ask. Activities associated with career guidance and counseling programs typically include: Advising students and parents on highschool programs and the academic curriculum, preparing them for college application and admission. Planning and preparation for score transcripts, college admissions tests, student residence, etc. Developing career portfolios, which include test and grades results, examples of student work and resumes for prospective universities. Arranging personal counseling sessions, workshops, classes, focus groups and special presentations that focus on major skills and personal development. Providing specialized counseling and intervention services to provide students with individualized attention.
Through this program, we engage our students to plan for their future well. Counselors help students not just to send as many application letters as they can, but also to truly understand the reason why they want to apply to a certain university. Since university application processes are challenging, we help our students to make their application easier. The careercounseling program is a unique opportunity for our students to utilize as they decide on their once-in-a-lifetime experience and enhance their SPH experience.
