Ethical probe taken against policeman
BATAM: The Riau Island Police are in the process of an ethical probe against its personnel whose comments on Facebook irked the local TNI.
Riau Islands Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Saptono Erlangga said the police would wait to take action against Comr. Abdulmubin Siagian as the ethical process was still on going.
“On behalf of the Riau Islands Police and leaders, we apologize to the Indonesian Military (TNI) and all people for the inappropriate comments made by Abdulmubin, who is being probed for disciplinary and ethical violations,” Erlangga said on Friday.
Abdulmubin made a comment on a news link related to the recent weapon saga between the TNI and the police on his Facebook account. He allegedly wrote that TNI personnel assigned at the border areas are only sleeping and eating. The comments have since gone viral and deemed an insult to the TNI.
The spokesman of Korem Wira Pratama Maj. Abdul Sipahutar said Abdulmubin’s comments had hurt the feelings of the TNI, especially the Army, whose soldiers are assigned to the utmost islands in the Riau Islands province.
He said the TNI also expected the police to process its member legally under the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law.
“We are still waiting for the legal process against him,” Abdul said. —
