Two-wheeler sales fall 1.7% in Septem­ber

JAKARTA: Mo­tor­cy­cle sales in In­done­sia fell 1.7 per­cent in Septem­ber from a year ear­lier, data from an industry as­so­ci­a­tion showed on Fri­day. Sales were up 5.2 per­cent in Au­gust from a year-ago pe­riod. Sales stood at 546,607 mo­tor­bikes in Septem­ber, down from 555,820 sold a year ago. It is also lower than the 554,923 bikes sold in Au­gust.

Mo­tor­bikes are hugely pop­u­lar in South­east Asia’s big­gest econ­omy and their sales are a key in­di­ca­tor of con­sump­tion.

Sales in Septem­ber were led by Honda Mo­tor Co.Ltd.,Yamaha Mo­tor Co. Ltd. and Kawasaki, data showed.
