The Jakarta Bi­en­nale is a bi­en­nial in­ter­na­tional arts ex­hi­bi­tion that dates all the way back to 1974. The lat­est it­er­a­tion of this event sees its or­ga­niz­ers col­lab­o­rat­ing with Me­lati Sury­o­darmo, who was ap­pointed as artis­tic di­rec­tor, and four cu­ra­tors se­lected through an open call.

Themed “Jiwa”, or “Soul”, the event features the works of artists both from home and around the world, in­clud­ing Cameroon, the Czech Re­pub­lic, Ger­many, In­dia, Ja­pan, Mex­ico, Switzer­land, Thai­land and the UK.

The event will be held through Dec. 10 at held four lo­ca­tions: the Gu­dang Sari­nah Eko­sis­tem, the Jakarta His­tory Mu­seum, the Mu­seum of Fine Arts and Ce­ram­ics, and In­sti­tut Français d’In­donésie.
