Lufthansa to base five A380s at Munich

Business Traveller - - UPFRONT -

LUFTHANSA IS TO TRANSFER five of its 14-strong fleet of Airbus A380s, previously based exclusively at Frankfurt airport, to Munich.

The superjumbos will be transferred in time for the summer 2018 schedules and will be deployed on services linking Munich to Beijing, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. The move will make Lufthansa more competitive at Munich – Emirates, for example, already operates A380s from the airport.

In other news, the carrier will add an extra weekly service to routes from Frankfurt to both Dublin and Manchester from October 29, increasing capacity by about 30 per cent on the Dublin service and 25 per cent on Manchester. Its up-until-now seasonal Glasgow-Munich service will operate four-times weekly this winter.
