BA FIRST CLASS TO SAN JOSE AND TRANSFER TO SAN FRANCISCO

Business Traveller - - INBOX -

I’ll be travelling in First with BA into San Jose [California] and hoped to find out the following: 1. Do BA First flyers get priority baggage reclaim? 2. Is there a fast-track customs option for First arrivals? I’m a UK national with a UK passport. 3. Approximately how long does it take for First passengers to clear customs and baggage reclaim from arrival time? 4. I was thinking of using SocialDrv for transfer to San Francisco. Views?

1. Yes, but it isn’t usually priority delivery and the bags often come out with everyone else’s. 2. No. 3. Allow about an hour – by exiting the aircraft first you should, unless you are behind another international arrival, clear immigration quickly. 4. Yes, the drive takes about an hour. However, the Caltrain is pretty good.

I’ve flown this route a number of times in the past year in First and never been delayed at San Jose passport control. No other flights arrive at this time (unless this has changed recently) so you should be through fast. If you are using a car service from San Francisco back to San Jose, note that 101 South can be like a car park between 4pm and 6pm so allow plenty of time. I’ve done it in 75 minutes but it once took nearly three hours and I made it just in time for the flight. The third-party lounge at San Jose is not bad if you arrive early and have to kill time.
