Amer­i­can Air­lines re­vamps JFK Flag­ship lounge

Amer­i­can Air­lines has un­veiled its first re­fur­bished Flag­ship lounge at New York JFK, with oth­ers to fol­low at Chicago, Dal­las, LA, Heathrow, Mi­ami and Philadel­phia.

Busi­ness class pas­sen­gers can now en­ter the ex­panded lounge, join­ing first class cus­tomers who pre­vi­ously had ac­cess. Fa­cil­i­ties in­clude quiet rooms, in­di­vid­ual work pods, show­ers, “a ro­bust hot and cold food buf­fet, an à la carte din­ing menu and a chef’s ta­ble with a ro­tat­ing menu of made-to-order en­trées”.

A sep­a­rate Flag­ship First Din­ing area of­fers a “sit-down restau­rant ex­pe­ri­ence” fea­tur­ing “lo­cally in­spired menus”. The Flag­ship First Din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence will be added to AA’s lounges at Mi­ami and LA this year, fol­lowed by Dal­las Fort Worth and Lon­don Heathrow.

The re­vamped lounges are part of a US$200 mil­lion in­vest­ment in the car­rier’s lux­ury travel fa­cil­i­ties, which also in­cludes a Flag­ship First Check-In ser­vice avail­able at New York JFK, Chicago, Heathrow, Los An­ge­les and Mi­ami.
